Mildred retired from the Hardin County School system, having worked as a cook at Lynnvale and West Hardin High Schools. She was recently honored at the White Mills Christian Church for 70 years of membership. Very few Sundays found her any place but at church. She was well known for her kind and gentle spirit and her art of using the needle. Mildred loved to quilt and make pillow cases. Many people have her stitchery in their homes. One of the great joys in her life was "eating out" and was known in many restaurants by her first name.
