Etta Elizabeth Snelgrove Tidwell was born on January 11, 1902 in Cass County, Texas, to Oscar Belton Snelgrove and Stella Mae Poplin. On February 16, 1921, she married Lonnie Edward Tidwell, who preceded her in death in 1980. Etta worked in Lubbock schools for many years, was a homemaker, and a member for the Linden Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She died on Thursday, October 3, 1996 in Linden, Texas. One son, Edward Powell Tidwell, preceded her in death in 1987. She was survived by six daughters, two sons, one sister, 28 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
