Lois M. Porter was the daughter of Joseph Edwin Porter and Goldie (Logue) Porter.

Lois Porter attended the Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls, Iowa. She became a school teacher; and, taught rural school in Cass County, Iowa. She also taught in Cumberland, Iowa; and, in Carter Lake, Iowa.

Lois Porter was an extraordinarily kind and gifted human being, and teacher -- and, was loved by everyone who had the opportunity to know her.

Lois is survived by many family members, including a daughter, Marsha (Bob) Swigle; and, several grandchildren.

BURIAL: Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska. Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park; Sunrise Garden. Lot 75, Space 9.

NOTE: Lois Porter is a descendant of Mayflower Pilgrim Richard Warren, through her Powell / Tilden / Little / Warren ancestry. In September of 1855, Lois' great grandparents, Edward Porter and Clarissa Richardson Powell, migrated by covered wagon from Stark County, Illinois, and settled in Cass County, Iowa. The village of Reno was platted in 1876 and the plat was recorded on August 24, 1877, by Edward Porter. In addition, Edward Porter donated land for the Reno Cemetery, where several generations of Porter kinfolk were buried.
