Melba Juanita Stockholm Verret, 82, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at Gulf Health Care Center in Port Arthur.

Mrs. Verret was born March 16, 1922 to Lee Carl and Thelma Anna Mann- Stockholm. She moved to Beaumont, Texas after marrying A. P. Verret, Jr. on October 10, 1941. She was the mother of five children, A. Philip Verret, III, J. Alan, Paul Edward. Andrew Eugene (Gene) and Anita Denise.

Juanita (Nita to her close friends) was active in St Anthony's School PTA, church life and is a long time member of St Jude's Parish. Her wide range of interests included Cub Scout leader as her sons grew up, traveling throughout the US as a former president and member of the Tri-Steppers Round Dance Club for more than twenty years, and she was an active Bridge Player.

She is survived by her husband, A.P. Verret, Jr. of Beaumont; sons, Phil Verret and his wife, Janet of New Albany, Ohio, Alan Verret of Crystal Beach, and Gene Verret of Beaumont; daughter, Denise DeLaGarza and her husband, Leo of Austin; grandchildren, Kathy Noack, Merrie Montondon, Phillip Verret IV, Timothy Verret, Julie Verret-Walker, Amy Godfrey, Andrew Verret, Sara Verret, Christina Verret, Alex DeLaGarza and Eliana DeLaGarza; and nine great grandchildren. Mrs. Verret was preceded in death by her son, Paul Verret; brother, Carl Stockholm; and sister, Thelma Clark.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 3, 2004. at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, followed by burial in Magnolia Cemetery, under the direction of Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A Christian Vigil will be 7:00 P.M. Thursday evening, September 2, 2004 at the mortuary.

Memorial contributions be made to St Jude's Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys, Beaumont, Texas 77706 in Mrs. Verret's memory.
