He was a native of Steel, Mo., a truck driver, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2007, at Loretto Memorial Chapel. Pastor Charles Perkins will be officiating. Burial will follow in Richardson Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2007, at Loretto Memorial Chapel.
Survivors are two granddaughters, Tracy York Merkle and husband, Van, Dayton, Ohio, Kelly York, Florence, Ala.; two great-grandsons, Coby and Andre York, Florence, Ala.; three great-granddaughters, Jade York, Florence, Ala., Chloe and Kira Merkle, Dayton, Ohio; one brother, Tom York, Birmingham, Ala.; special friend, Lucille Wilson, Florence, Ala.; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Putman York, and son, Larry York.
Loretto Memorial Chapel is in charge of all arrangements.
