Born to Doc and Emmie Blackburn in Montague Co., TX she married Delbert W Barker 27 Oct 1931. After their marriage Opal and Delbert moved to Nucla, Montrose Co., CO. Three children were born to this marriage, one preceded her in death. Delbert worked in the local Uranium Mines and Opal was a home maker. She was busy with her Church activities and raising her children. They lived in Nucla most of their married life except for a short residency in NV. They returned to Nucla where both are buried.
Opal met and befriended Lola Mae Bishop Tovrea in Nucla, and they remained the best of friends through out their lives. Unknown to the both of them, they both descended from Hans Dewalt Lederman and were first cousins, 6 generations removed!
