Billy Joe Eaton, 84, died Friday November 26, 2010 at Mesa Springs Healthcare Center in Abilene. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday November 29, 2010 at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home Chapel with Wes Eastman officiating. Burial will follow in Belvieu Cemetery under the direction of Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.

Born September 26, 1926 in Rotan, TX, Billy was a son of the late Andrew Clarence (A.C.) and Hallie (Young) Eaton.

He was a life-long resident of Rotan and was a Rifle marksman in the Army during WWII.

Billy married Bobbie (Neely) on October 18, 1947 in Rotan.

He worked as a mechanic and welder at National Gypsum in Rotan from 1952 until he retired in 1986.

Billy loved breaking horses and roping. He loved to make people laugh. Always helping people in need Billy built handrails for anyone and enjoyed mowing older people's yards never accepting payment in return. He was a great cook and always had a wonderful garden.

Billy was a member of the Church of Christ in Rotan.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter (Linda Sue Eaton), four brothers (Douglas, Finley, Roy and Lewis Eaton) and one sister (Thelma Cook).

Billy is survived by his wife of sixty-three years Bobbie Eaton; one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Ronnie Gardner of Abilene; one twin brother, Willie Eaton of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Eric and his wife Adalia Gardner and David and his wife Stacey Gardner; six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Logan Elizabeth, Ethan, Lauren, Danielle and Devin.
