DAVID J. NICHOLS

David J. Nichols, son of E. W. and Margaret Davis Nichols, was born in Scranton, Penn., Sept. 24, 1865, and died March 12, 1941, at Chariton, Iowa, at the age of 75 years, 6 months and 12 days.

He came to Iowa with his parents in 1878. He graduated from Drake University in Des Moines in 1886. He was employed as a telegraph operator for the Burlington Railway for 25 years in Iowa, Illinois and Colorado.

He was the eldest of a family of five children. His father, mother and one brother, R. E. Nichols preceded him in death.

Of this family there remains two brothers and one sister, E. P. Nichols, of Madrid, Iowa; C. H. Nichols, of Tucson, Arizona; and Mrs. W. J. Myers, of Chariton, with whom he had made his home for 13 years.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Geo. A. Lawton, of the Methodist church, were held Friday afternoon at two o'clock at the Beardsley funeral home, and burial was in the Chariton cemetery.
