The Oil Weekly, Vol 25, No. 9; Houston, Texas; May 27, 1922; p62.
Los Angeles, May 20. – F. M. Berry, new Western Manager of the Union Tool Company is a machinery man by birth, as well as by choice. His father before him was engaged in the mining and mill machinery business in West Virginia, and being orphaned at an early age, F. M. Berry and his brother took charge of this business and conducted it for many years.

When the oil boom hit West Virginia, Mr. Berry was "sitting pretty" at Sistersville, and it was only a short step from the mining machinery business to that of oil field machinery.

He came to California in 1903, and entered the service of the Union Oil Company, in the capacity of store manager of the Santa Paula Hardware Company, owned by the Union. This business was sold the following year, and Berry was transferred to Orcutt as special agent for the company, later, in 1907, he returned to Los Angeles as manager of the Union Well Supply Company. In 1913 the Supply Company was dissolved and the Purchasing Department of the Union Oil Company was organized, with Berry, at its Head. He had maintained this position till the present time.
On June first Mr. Berry will take over the official title of Western Manager of the Union Tool Company, with headquarters in Torrance, California. The Union Tool Company has no connection with the Union Oil Company, bit is owned by the National Supply Company. It was formerly owned by Union Oil.

The long years of experience as a machinery and supply man, coupled with a personal charm and magnetism which makes friends at first acquaintance, combine to make Mr. Berry peculiarly adapted to the responsibilities and opportunities of his new connection.
