Bangta Sue Johnson, Sue, 73, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, at Kootenai Medical Center, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, after enduring six months of illness.

She was born in Terre Haute, Ind., on Jan. 24, 1937, and was the second child of seven born to Clarence and Maxine (Myers) Brown. She attended Otter Creek High School and graduated from Garfield High School in 1956.

She worked for Columbia Records from 1957 until she moved to Los Angeles, in 1983 to work at CBS Television City. She moved to Safford in 1999, and she worked at Val's Furniture and later worked for Arizona National Bank until May of 2009.

She moved to Austin, Texas, in November 2009 to marry John "Mac" McLaughlin. However, in June 2010 she fell ill, and after months of being hospitalized, she was relocated to Coeur d'Alene in October to be cared for by her daughters.

In Terre Haute, Sue was a member of Eastern Star, the Gamma Psi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and City Council. When she moved to California, she continued with Beta Sigma Phi in the Xi Alpha Lambda Glendale Chapter and the S.C.C. In Safford, she was a member of the American Legion, and she enthusiastically participated in its activities.

Sue was a gregarious person who made friends wherever she went. Her brilliant smile and contagious laugh won many lifelong friends.

Her courage, tenacity, strength, integrity and kindness were the evidences of her strong faith in Christ and love of family and friends. She had a caring heart, a great sense of humor, a lot of spunk and was, overall, a very classy lady. She was an avid reader, loved music and theater and cared deeply for her pets.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Chris Perry of Coeur d'Alene, and Elizabeth and Robert Grenert of Scottsdale; six grandchildren, Mike Perry (Arizona), Rob Perry (Idaho), Dan Perry (California), Chris Perry (Washington), and Katie and Robert Grenert (Arizona). She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Julia Hoskins (Florida), Lloyd Brown (Florida), Robert Brown (Arizona), Dave Brown (Florida), and Betty Dexter, (Indianna); along with numerous nieces and nephews she adored; and husband John McLaughlin and five stepchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Max; and her former in-laws, William and Ruth Helen Johnson, whom she dearly loved and credited them with "taking a snotty-nosed 16-year-old and making something of her."

Cremation occurred at English Funeral Chapels and Crematory in Coeur d'Alene. A celebration of her life and interment at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute are planned for June 25, 2011, at 1 p.m. An announcement will be made at a later time indicating time and place of her celebration.

In lieu of flowers, she requested that donations be made to local chapters of the March of Dimes
