Wife of Hugh William Evans - married Sep. 1, 1916, Vernal, UT.
My grandmother, Tessie Marie Winn was born March 5, 1900 in Vernal, Utah and spent her childhood and youth in Vernal. On September 1, 1916 and the age of 16, she married Hugh William Evans in Vernal. Their first child was a son, Francis Lowell Evans, born April 13, 1917 in Vernal. Hugh worked on road construction and they eventually moved to Phoenix, Arizona where they had a daughter, Della June Evans, born June 20, 1924. After a time in Arizona, they moved to Corona, California where their second daughter Lois May Evans was born August 11, 1930. They were to remain in California for the rest of their lives, moving to San Bernardino and finally in 1952, moving to Norco, where they built a beautiful home on a bluff overlooking the Santa Ana River and the dairy farms to the north, punctuated by the San Gabriel Mountains further north. Grandma Evans loved to work with her hands and spent many hours engaging herself in quilting, crocheting, knitting, and who knows what else, making many beautiful items that are still in use in the family today. She passed away on Christmas Day, December 25, 1985 in Riverside, California.
