CARLTON CLARK ABBEY, son of Solomon, jr., and Susan (Gile) Abbey, bom May 16, 1820; died February 3 (or 23), 1853, in San Francisco.

He received the degree of A.B. from Middlebury (Vermont) College in 1845; taught school in South Carolina; attended Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, from which he received the degree of M.D. in 1848; taught in Warsaw, Ala.; opened a drug store in Philadelphia; returned to Littleton, where he practiced medicine until 1853, when he went to California.

Married (2) at Littleton, June 16, 1850, FATIMA HUTCHINS HASTINGS, born October 1, 1818, daughter of Sylvanus and Lucy (Hutchins) Hastings.
