He was born on February 28, 1927 in Lawrence County to Daniel D. Covey and Amanda (Deckard) Covey. Leslie served in the U.S. Marines during WWII. He married Margie Roberts on November 30, 1946. He retired from RCA after 37 years of service and was a member of the Soul's Harbor Apostolic Church
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, and four sisters.
Leslie is survived by his wife Margie Covey of Ellettsville; sons, Ronald Covey and wife Phyllis of Gosport, Jerry Covey and wife Mary of Ellettsville, Dannie Covey of Bloomington, Tim Covey and wife Darla of Greene County, and Nathan Covey and wife LaDonna of Bloomington; fifteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren, and brother, Leroy Covey of Linton.
Funeral services will be held at the Soul's Harbor Apostolic Church , 7510 Old State Road 37 South at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 with Brother David Butcher officiating. Interment will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens with military graveside services provided by the Monroe County Honor Guard. Visitation will be at Chandler Funeral Home on Monday, November 8, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
