Obituary, Sunday February 24th, 2008:
Susan Daniel Miller of Oklahoma City was born on November 6, 1913 in Saluda, South Carolina to Mr. and Mrs. William Daniel. She departed this life on Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at the age of 94.
Mrs, Miller graduated magna cum laude from Winthrop College in South Carolina in 1934 where she had been very active with the Baptist Student Union. Shortly after that, she moved to Oklahoma where she was instrumental in establishing the first Baptist Student Union in the state. She worked as the director of the Baptist Student Union at the University of Oklahoma for five years before her marriage to George Miller on December 28, 1940.
For several years after they were married, George and Susan traveled with the United States Army, and lived for a time in Germany where Mr. Miller was a Judge of the Military Government Courts. They joined First Baptist Church in Oklahoma City in 1945 where they served as Sunday school teachers, teaching young married couples for over 45 years.
Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, George, and their son, Robert. She is survived by her sister, Lucretia D. Cooper of Charlotte, North Carolina; niece Jane Martin and family of Norman, Oklahoma; niece Mary Wall and family of Dallas, Texas; and many other nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday February 26, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at the Louise Prichard Chapel at First Baptist Church, Oklahoma City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Baptist Foundation of Oklahoma for the benefit of the Susan Daniel Miller Endowment Trust for Baptist Collegiate Ministries - University of Oklahoma or to Baptist Village Retirement Communities.
All arrangements are under the direction of Guardian West Funeral Home, Oklahoma City.
