MRS. SALLY BAILEY who settled on Yankee Street, in Howard township in 1833 died at the residence of her son Putnam Bailey, February 17, 1877, at a ripe old age. She was the mother of a large family whom she reared to habits of industry, one of whom, Frank, was the envy of our boyish days as the owner and successful manager of a spanking team of Newfoundland dogs, which he drove about the country years ago selling cheap and needy wares, and thereby earning an honest living. Such industry instilled in her children under adverse circumstances are the noblest monument to the good mother.

--Cassopolis Vigilant, Cassopolis, MI, June 21, 1877, Page 5 (provided by Contributor #47123976)

Note that the article says she died at the residence of her son 'Putnam' Bailey, but the Bailey Family History shows no sons by that name and states that she lived with her son, Byron, in the Yankee Street home until she died.

Sally (Waldo) married Joseph Bailey, Jr. on February 10, 1814. Her parents are Deacon Samuel Waldo, Jr and Abiah Northrup.
