Abigail Emaline Cross, daughter of William James and Rebecca Jane (Ashford) Cross Taylor, was born on the banks of the Brazos River.

She gave birth to Vernetta "Nettie" Cross Taylor on Nov 20 1872, when she was 16. A step-father, William Jackson Taylor, a MS Choctaw and OK pioneer, was named the offender of the innocent young mother and died 3 years later.

On Aug. 14, 1879, she married Martin Patrick Cunningham, an Irish born railroad worker, b. 1831, County Sligo, Ireland, who emigrated to America soon after the Civil War.

The family moved to Cleveland Co, OK Terr, settling there in Aug 1889, after Martin obtained land east of Norman. He became the first to register land in T9 N, R2W, section 14, east of Norman on July 11, 1889, which was recorded at Guthrie in the original Federal Tract books.
