DIES AT FAMILY HOME
Thomas D. (sic) Rogers, a former lumber dealer of Campbell Hill, Ill., died at his home, 124 New Hampshire street, where he had resided with his family for two years. Mr. Rogers leaves a widow and five children, Mrs. Josephine Rogers Brant, George B., Edith, Clyde B. and Perry J., all of Los Angeles. The funeral will be held at the residence Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock, the interment to be in Rosedale cemetery.

Thomas Benton Rogers, a former prominent and highly esteemed citizen of this place died of consumption at his home in Los Angeles, Cal., at 5:30 o'clock last Sunday morning, aged 49 years, 5 months, and 20 days.
Until about fifteen years ago Mr. Rogers resided on his farm a few miles from here, then moved to town and engaged in the mercantile business.
About seven years ago he was appointed deputy sheriff of Jackson County, and later became sheriff when Sheriff John Fox was no longer able to attend to the duties of his office on account of ill health. He was an excellent official and won many friends throughout the country. During his residence in Murphysboro Mr. Rogers became associated with John L. Osburn in the lumber business, an interest in which he still retained at the time of his death.
Owing to the ill health of himself and wife, Mr. Rogers and family went to the state of Washington two years ago and a short time later located to Los Angeles. He spent a considerable part of the past year looking after business interests in this county, and when he departed for home a few months ago his friends could but feel that they were bidding him a last farewell.
Deceased leaves a wife, three sons, George, Clyde and Perry, and two daughters, Josephine (recently married) and Edith, all of Los Angeles; also a number of other relatives.
It is with the deepest regret that the many Campbell Hill friends of the family hear of their bereavement.
