Mrs. Roederer Expires After a Brief Illness From a Carbuncle.
Mrs. Lugarda Roederer died at her home, north of the city on the road running from the Plank Road to the Charlestown pike, yesterday afternoon at 4 0'clock after an illness of nine days. On Saturday, Sept. 7, she complained of a sore place on her neck which she thought was a boil. This developed into a carbuncle and on Tuesday Mrs. Roederer was compelled to take to her bed, a high fever having set in. Wednesday night she became unconcious and remained in tghat condition until death followed. Previous to her last illness Mrs. Roederer had been a healthy woman.
As Lugarda Kopp Mrs. Roederer was born in Germany September 9, 1837 and came to this country in 1857. She met Louis Roederer in Louisville shortly after her arrival and the two were afterwards married. Mr. Roederer died 15 years ago next January. As a result of the union 13 children were born, 10 of still survive. They are: Mrs. Louisa Seebach of Louisville, Louis Roederer, Fred Roederer, Mrs. Lena Worley, George Roederer, John Roederer, Miss Lizzie Roederer, Miss Mary Roederer, Miss Anna Roederer and Henry Roederer of this city or township. Her other nearest relatives are two brothers: George and Chris Kopp, who live near the city limits, and Mrs. Louisa Steedley, of Louisville.
Early in life Mrs. Roederer joined the church and was a member of St. Lucas congregation in this city, relying in full belief of the faith. She was also a member of Helvetia Lodge, 306 Knights and Ladies of Honor. The funeral services, conducted by the Rev. J. G. Reess, will be held at St. Lucas church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and the internment will be at Walnut Ridge cemetery.
