Horace Webster Burns, 82 passed away Friday, June 26, 2009 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS. Visitation was held Sunday, June 28, 2009 at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services were held Monday, June 29, 2009, 11:00 A.M. at Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS with Bro. Mickey Dalrymple officiating and Bro. Sammy Crawford and Bro. Tommy Gillon assisting. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Burns was born October 14, 1926 in Lowndes County, MS to the late Fines "Bob" Elmer and Rona Catherine Hannah Burns. He lived in Columbus his entire life. He loved to garden, was a clock maker, a carpenter and enjoyed building furniture and swings. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and the 55+ of Fairview Baptist Church. Mr. Burns was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army. He retired from Cole Refrigeration after 49 years of service in 2001. Mr. Burns is survived by his wife - Mary P. Burns, Columbus, MS; son Robert Harvey Burns, Fulton, MS; daughters Denise Marie Burns, Columbus, MS, and Janette Dale (Jim) Howard, Biloxi, MS and brother Almous Gene Burns, Columbus, MS; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Wesley Barnett, Adam Barnett, Josh Barnett, Dillon Hawkins, Richard Burns and Jeffery Bullock. Honorary Pallbearers will be Clay Bateman, James Barnett, Guy Hammock, Vester Hutcheson, Charlie Cole, Jerry Cole, Greg Belue, Mack Eubanks, Rob Burns, Wayne Pitts, Charles Stafford and Jim Howard.
