Ellen Mantel "Nellie" Francis, 87, a resident of Ocean View for the last 40 years, died Jan. 20, 2002.
Born in Norfolk, she was a restaurant owner in Ocean View and a former member of Ocean View Democratic & Social Club.
The widow of Willie T. Francis, she is survived by a son, John R. Knaub of Virginia Beach; and a brother, Robert P. Williams and wife, Pauline E. Williams of Norfolk.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
