LONGMEADOW - Harriet G. "Bev" Baldwin (Chase), 87, was born in Brockton, MA on February 8, 1916 and lived for the last 54 years at 280 Burbank Road, Longmeadow. She died peacefully Father's Day, June 15th, at Mercy Hospital with her family near. Bev Baldwin was the seventh child of Dr. Harrison and Eliza Chase (Brownell). She was educated at Northfield Seminary School for Girls, Skidmore College, and Boston Children's Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated with an RN. Bev Baldwin loved a competitive game of bridge and enjoyed many sports, particularly the Red Sox. Her love of sports was spirited through her daughter, Longmeadow Lancers #1 fan, Betsy Baldwin, also known as "The Cookie Lady" by many generations of Lancer graduates. Additionally, she leaves her husband of 62 years, Bill Baldwin; and 3 children, John Baldwin of Provincetown, Sallie Baldwin of Agawam, and son and daughter-in-law Steve and Carin Baldwin of West Springfield. She also leaves five beloved grandchildren, Kristin and Todd Andrade and Adam, Amanda and Jason Baldwin. Bev Baldwin will be remembered as a golfer (a former member of Captain's Course at Brewster, MA and Suffield Country Club), an avid reader (she once read all volumes of "The History of the English Speaking People") and a longtime member of First Church of Christ in Longmeadow. She greatly enjoyed her second home in Brewster, MA and spent every summer with Betsy for 25 years "to the right of the life guard stand" at Nauset Beach. Graveside service Thursday at 11 a.m. in Longmeadow Cemetery . Arrangements are being handled by Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd.
