Charles A. Whitmore
Lockport: Charles A Whitmore, 85, of Locust St.,
died at Lockport Memorial Hospital Monday,
(Oct 30, 1967) after a short illnesss.
Born in Lockport Aug 21, 1882, the son of Charles
and Carrie Belle Clement Whitmore, he attended
schools here and also attended DeVeaux School in Niagara Falls.
A charter member of the Exempt Volunteer Firemen's Association, he was also a member of the Grace Episcopal Church.
He retired in 1940 after serving for many years as the supervisor of road work for the former C B Whitmore Construction Co.
He was the foster father of the late Charles F Whitmore. Surviving are his widow Mable Stahl Whitmore, four grandchildren and one great grandson.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs Harry Ingersol and Mrs Louis Abbott, both of Hamburg; two brothers, Wallace W Whitmore of this city and Thomas C Whitmore of Florida. And several nieces and nephew.
Beginning today friends may call at the Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. where the Rev L Russell Foster will conduct services Thursday at 11: A.M.
Burial will be in Cold Springs Cemetery.
