Obituary: Funeral service for Fred W. Kipf, 85, were held Sept. 10 at the Church of God in Litchfield, with Rev. Russell Dickerson officiating. Special music was furnished by Mrs. Elton Ruhn and Lowell Wegner. Pallbearers were Fred Becker, Nick Becker, Ernest Hamilton, Lavern Becker, Floyd Becker and Walter Berg. Interment was in Ripley Cemetery.
Friends and relatives attending the funeral from out of town came from Kimball, Minneapolis, Eden Valley, Watkins, California, Rochester, Cosmos and Hutchinson.
Fred W. Kipf was born in Germany on Feb. 13, 1881. He came to the United States and spent his youth in Nebraska. He worked in a logging camp, bringing his cattle and possessions from Nebraska to Iowa by caravan. He moved to Meeker county in 1912. His wife, Anna, preceded him in death on Dec. 13, 1949.
Surviving are five children, Mrs. Marion DeHeer (Elvera) of Watkins, Mrs. John Reichmuth (Alvina) of Temple City, Calif., Mrs. Walter Schultz (Mildred) of Gardena, Calif., Vernon Kipf or Watkins, and Mrs. Gene Shaw (Esther) of Litchfield. All were present at the funeral. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Mildred Heaney of Long Beach, Calif., nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
