Genora 'Nora' Miller was born May 28, 1885 in Alabama, daughter of Andrew Jackson Miller (1859-1946) and Florence Elizabeth Kenedy (1862-1926).

The 1900 Federal Census for Dagnall, Alabama (Cullman County) shows Genora Miller, age 15, born May 1885 in Alabama; living with her father, Andrew, a farmer, age 40, born August 1859 in Alabama; and her mother, Florence, age 37, born June 1862 in Alabama. Also living in the household was Genora's seven siblings: Coreander, age 19, born May 1881; Leona, age 17, born May 1883; Christopher, age 12, born August 1887; Aurora, age 10, born May 1890; Grady, age 7, born April 1893; DeWitt, age 5, born May 1895; and Dera, age 1, born June 1898; all born in Alabama.

In about 1912, Nora married Phillip Gurley Hedgecock, who was born February 28, 1880 in Alabama, son of Francis Marion Hedgecock and Mary Elizabeth Foust. Gurley and Nora had only one child, Walton Wayne Hedgecock (1912-1968).

The 1920 Federal Census for Summit, Alabama (Blount County) shows Gurley Hedgecock, a farmer, age 39, born in Alabama; and his wife, Genora, age 35, born in Alabama; and their son, Walton, age 7, born in Alabama.

The 1930 Federal Census for Summit, Alabama (Blount County) shows P. G. Hedgecock, a farmer, age 50, born in Alabama; and his wife, Genora, age 46, born in Alabama; and their son, Walton Hedgecock, a farm laborer, age 17, born in Alabama. Also living in the household was Gurley's mother, Mary E., a widow, age 81, born in Alabama.

Gurley died May 15, 1942 in Arab, Alabama (Marshall County) and was buried there in the Arab Cemetery. Nora died April 18, 1952 in Blount County, Alabama and was buried beside her husband in Arab Cemetery.
