The Normangee Star:
S.P. Adams died Saturday morning at the home of his daughter Mrs. A.J. Batson, about a mile from town. He had been in bad health for nearly two yeas, perhaps an enlargement of the liver. He was laid to rest Sunday afternoon in Hopewell cemetery, a place he had done so much to keep in order during the past years. He is now surrounded by a large number of his friends.

Mr. Adams was a good man, one whose every desire was to do the right thing. A good citizen, a good father, husband & friend. He devoted his time to wife, sons & daughters, who are among our best citizens. He was a special friend of the Editor of this paper who related to us, he was a good man.

Savage Pitt Adams was born in Prescott, Arkansas, April, 20, 1859. In early life he came to Texas with his family, settled in Grime County at Navasota. He married Miss Lorena Snow of Bedias at Iola on April 1, 1883. A few years later they moved to Leon Prairie, where they made their home for 19 years. They had nine children, four daughters and five sons. Of these, six are still living, all married, living with their families near Normangee except one. The children are: Monty, the oldest; Mrs. Jimmie (A.J. Batson); Mrs. Myrtle Batson: Mrs. Blanche Hines: Ross R.: and Dannie P. Adams of Sealy. There are 15 grandchildren.

He leaves five Brothers and two sisters, all living: Warren Adams of San Antonio, TX; G.B. Adams of Warren, Arkansas; Martin Adams of Seabrook, Texas; Clinton Adams of Houston, Texas; Mrs. Louisa DuBeau of San Antonio; Mrs. J.M. McWhorter of Lytle, Texas; and Charlie P. Adams of San Francisco, California.
