MATTHEWS, N.C. — John Frank Biggers Jr., 84, of Matthews, passed away September 29, 2006. He was born in Union County to John Frank and Myrtle Moore Biggers. He served his country in the Pacific Theater during WWII in the Marine Corps. After the war he started his family in Charlotte and for the largest part of his career was a heating engineer with the Gas Heat Engineering Corp. in Charlotte and Columbia, SC. After retirement, Frank divided his time between homes in Matthews and Lake Tillery, NC. He was an active member of Matthews United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Audrey Braswell Biggers; sons, J. Frank Biggers III and wife, Anne, of Walterboro, SC, and David T. Biggers and wife, Brenda, of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Ashley Biggers of Columbia, SC, and Bridget B. Anderson and husband, Stephen, of Raleigh, and Barbara Biggers of Raleigh, NC; great-grandchildren, Anneliese and Maxwell Bernat, Ava Anderson; brother and sister, Reverend James N. Biggers of Asheboro, NC; and stepsister, Mary Ellen Woolard of Charlotte, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Ellen S. Biggers, and his brothers and sisters, John Biggers, Grace Hawfield, Isabel Howey, Cleo Starnes, Willene Howey, Allen Biggers, Dwight Biggers, and infant sister, Mary Frances Biggers.

A service to celebrate his life will be held 1 p.m. Monday, October 2, 2006, at Matthews United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. Ken Lyons officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.

Flowers will be accepted, however, memorial donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 733 Third Ave., New York, NY 10017 or to Matthews United Methodist Church, 801 S. Trade St., Matthews, NC 28105.
