He enlisted in Company F, Ohio 89th Infantry Regiment on 22 Aug 1862. Promoted to Full Sergeant. Died in prison in Richmond, VA. His official record shows he was mustered out 1 Jan 1864. Possibly the Oliver S. Temple reported by Col. Kimball, in his report of the engagement at Winchester, VA, as Lt. Taylor's flagman.
