Services for W. Lamar Boothe, 75, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Parkburg Baptist Church with Reverend L. D. Kennedy, Reverend Jerry Barker and Reverend Jeff Moody officiating. Burial will be in Parkburg Cemetery. George A. Smith and Sons South Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Bro. Boothe, a retired Baptist minister, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday afternoon, November 15, 2002, at his home. He was born in Burnsville, Mississippi on July 6, 1927 to the late Claude C. Boothe and Lillie Jane Tucker Boothe. He accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of 13.
Bro. Boothe attended Burnsville High School, Union University and graduated from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1958. He has pastored churches in North Mississippi and West Tennessee. He retired in 1993 from Chalk Level Baptist Church, Camden, Tennessee. He was a member of Parkburg Baptist Church and was teacher of the J. N. Mays Sunday School Class. He was presently serving as president of the Madison-Chester Association Senior Adults.
Bro. Boothe married Hazel Brown Boothe on November 21, 1954 at Parkburg Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Stephen Lamar Boothe and wife Lynn of Huntingdon, TN., Michael Carl Boothe and wife Dorothy of Athens, GA.; three daughters, Emily Boothe Ward and husband Tom of Evansville, IN., Susan Boothe Powell of Houston, TX. and Tena Boothe Moody and husband Jeff of Blytheville, AR. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Denise Boothe Arnold and husband Tim of McKenzie, TN., Bridget Rainey of Jackson, Erin Ward and Megan Ward of Evansville, IN., Misty Powell, Lauren Powell and Daniel Powell of Houston, TX., Garrett Moody and Timothy Moody of Blytheville, AR., Luke Lamar Boothe and Christina Boothe of Athens, GA. He is survived by one sister, Mattie Smith, Memphis, TN. and two brothers, Rufus Boothe of Booneville, MS. and J. C, Boothe, Cordova, TN.
Bro. Boothe was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Dunn and two brothers, Roy Boothe and Charles Boothe.
Casket bearers to serve are Leon Smith, Charles Calvert, Willie Hatfield, Alvin Harrell, Carl Brown and Willard Chandler. All ministers and deacons will serve as honorary casket bearers.
The family will receive friends at George A. Smith and Sons South Chapel Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
The body will lie in state at Parkburg Baptist Church on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
