Minnie "Memaw" Havard Renfro Duff, 91, of Lufkin, was born September 8, 1919 in Lufkin, Texas, the daughter of the late Anna (Squyres) and Reverend Alonzo C. Havard. She passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Duff was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was born in Lufkin and married Reverend Ferguson Duff in 1965.
She then moved to different towns with her husband while he pastored various churches. They moved to Huntington in 1992. She loved her family and enjoyed sewing and listening to gospel music. She was a member of Little Flock Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Jerry King of Spurger; son and daughter-in-law, Harold Vechel and Phyllis K. Renfro of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Worth Haggerton of Lufkin; 17 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Duff was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Ferguson Duff; 2 sisters; and 2 brothers.
Pallbearers will be Donna Loftin, Maion Lee King, Jr., Claude King, Larry King, Terry Carter, Heath Renfro, Brandon Renfro, Kenneth Loftin, Jr., William Loftin, Lonnie King and Tom Hanna. Services for Mrs. Duff will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2011 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Gene Hazell officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
