Joe Goodson was a 35 year old victim of the Winecoff Hotel fire in Atlanta, Georgia on December 7, 1946. He was traveling with his wife, Gladys and their two children Joe and Barbara to Florida to recover from a bout of pneumonia. They lived in Clay City, Illinois. Joe was a geologist for the Pure Oil Company and a graduate of the University of Kentucky. They occupied suite 1202-1204. Lexington, Kentucky records indicate that he had lived in Lexington at one time before moving to Illinois most likely when he was attending University of Kentucky.
