Visiting at Brown Chapel Baptist Church, Tangipahoa, 11 a.m. until religious services at 1 p.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Hayward Andrews. Burial in Tangipahoa Cemetery. Survived by four daughters, Cora Knighton Pania, Plaquemine, Dorothy Knighton Gambler, Baker, Theresa Knighton Williams and Thelma Knighton Joseph, both of Baton Rouge; three sons, Adron Knighton Jr., Chicago, Ill., Gill H. Knighton and Dennis Knighton, both of Baton Rouge; two daughters-in-law, Margaret A. Knighton, Chicago, and Eleanor K. Knighton, Baton Rouge; three sons-in-law,Elmo Pania Jr., Plaquemine, William J. Gambler Jr., Baker, and Buddy Joseph, Baton Rouge; a sister, Maxine Knighton, Chicago; three brothers, Alton Knighton and Lewis Knighton, both of Tangipahoa, and Cleon Knighton, Baton Rouge; seven sisters-in-law; four brothers-in law; 15 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by wife, Alretha Knighton; parents, Clarence and Victoria Knighton; a son, Huey Porter; three brothers, Roy, Leslie and Maxie Knighton; a sister, Doris Knighton Sultz; and a grandson, Reginald K. Gambler. He was a member of Brown Chapel Baptist Church. Rhodes United Fidelity Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
