Daughter of the Honarable William Elliott and Isabel Elliott Barnwell, christened Ann Habersham Elliott, her name was later changed Isabella Barnwell Elliott, after her mother passed away.

Colonel William married first, December 20, 1863, Isabella Elliott Barnwell, only daughter of Major John G.Barnwell and Emma Elliott. She died in Beaufort October 30, I867, age 26 leaving an only daughter, Ann Habersham, born February 4, 1866. Ann's name was later changed to Isabella Barnwell Elliott(As a loving tribute to her deceased mother). She married June 18, 1891 in Beaufort, William Burroughs Smith Whaley, son of William Baynard Whaley and Helen Smith. Born May 24, 1866 in Charleston, he graduated (B.S. in Mechanical Engineering) from Cornell University in I888 and developed a large engineering firm with headquarters in Columbia. He died in La Rochelle, New York on April 27, 1929. Isabella died in Orangeburgh March 14, l951 leaving several children.

Family Home @ #112 Gervais Street (now 1527 Gervais), Columbia, SC. Transom over front door has the original street number in stained glass.

Isabel died in Orangeburgh, SC, March 14, 1951, about noon, at the home of her daughter Helen Smith (Whaley) Murdaugh, leaving several children and grand-children.
