Katherine Mathes, nee Jung, was born on 24th August, 1876 in Town Russell. She was confirmed on 22nd March, 1891. On 1 November, 1899 she was married to Henry Mathes in Town Russell.
Two sons survivie her, Malon, a sailor for Uncle Sam. and Eli, who lives with Herman Froehlich.
She was a resident of Elkhart Lake for 16 years. Her husband preceded her in death by four years.
For many years her home was in Glenbeulah. for the past 10 years she was an invalid and helpless and lived with her sister, Mrs. John Conrad and with Jacob Jung.On Friday, the 6th of the month, she had a stroke.
In addition to her sons she leaves her mother from Kiel, three sisters, Mrs. Henry Strade, Mrs. John Conrad and Mrs. Herman Froehlich, two brothers, Jacob Jung in Kiel and Adam Jung in Burlington, Wis.
The deceased had reached the age of 42 years, 3 months and 10 days.
Funeral held at the Evang. Johannes Church at Elkhart Lake on Tuesday.
Burial on the Evang. St. Johannes Cemetery at Elkhart Lake.
