George Halstein, who retired as an engineer on the West Shore division of the New York Central railroad on August 30, 1930, died on Saturday afternoon after a long illness. Mr. Halstein resided at 148 Smith avenue, and had been a railroad man for over 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, who was formerly Miss Fannie Day; a daughter, Mrs. Frederick Schryver; one son, John D. Halstein; a sister, Mrs. P. Byersdoffer of Valley Stream; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services from the late home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment in Montrepose cemetery.
