She was born Feb. 25, 1922, in Hurdland, Mo., the daughter of John and Edna (nee Selby) Lantz.
Mrs. Murphy was raised and educated in the Quincy area.
She lived in Galesburg for a number of years and then in Naperville.
She had lived in Hamilton for the past 20 years, where she was a member of the Hamilton VFW Auxiliary.
She owned and operated My Favorite Pizza in Carthage from 1982 until her retirement in 1994.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence W. Murphy Jr.; two daughters, Patricia Lynn Ruppert of Pawpaw, Carol Ann Plowman of Hamilton; three sons, S.J. Williamson of Ft. Madison, Iowa, Jerry T. Williamson of Oquawka, and Michael C. Murphy of Naperville; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Maurita Kramer of Galesburg and Viola Powell of Quincy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Interment of ashes will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, in the Elvaston City Cemetery, Elvaston, with the Rev. Philip M. Nevius officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Blessing Hospice of Hancock County.
