Chico Record, Chico, CA, Sunday, Jan 24, 1937, pg 1: "Robert C. Shirley Dies in Hospital; Pneumonia Cause --- Robert Crittenden Shirley, 45, Chico farmer, died at Enloe Hospital at 8:45 o'clock last night. Death was attributed to pneumonia.

"Mr. Shirley had resided in Chico all his life and was a member of the Christian Church. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Helen Ford Shirley; three sons, Robert, Glen and Richard Shirley; his mother, Mrs. L.C. Shirley, all of Chico; two brothers, Eugene Shirley, Richfield; J.H. Shirley, Urbin, IL; two sisters, Mrs. Beulah Lobdell, Chico, and Mrs. Leola Rose, Fresno. Funeral arrangements are pending at the H. C.
