Francis R. Lockwood, 79, a World War II Army veteran, died at home Sunday, Oct. 8, after a long illness. He leaves his wife of 55 years, Lucy M. (Gentile) Lockwood, two sons, Francis M. Lockwood and James W. Lockwood; a daughter , Linda L. Hoey of Holden; a sister Joan McLaughlin of Worcester. His brother, Joseph L. Lockwood, died in 1982. He was born in Clinton, son of Francis A. and Mary (Reardon) Lockwood. He graduated from Clinton High School and lived in Worcester for the last 50 years. Mr. Lockwood was owner of Artisan Inc. for 10 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion Tatnuck Post 288, Veterans of Foreign Wars, National Rifle Association, and the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association. Francis was also an airplane pilot.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, Oct. 11, from Nordgren, Carrigan, Mangsen Memorial Chapel in Worcester, with a Mass in St. Bernard's Church.
