Mr Matlock was a native of Kentucky and was born at Georgetown on June 12, 1831. His father, was Thomas Matlock and his mother was Miss Mary, daughter of James Alexander, also from Kentucky.
He was united in marriage on April 1 1852, to Lavina Sniders and twin boys were born to them, they being James and Harry Matlock. The wife died in 1854. He was second married to Mary Ann Huffered and they had nine children. She died in 1873 and he than married Laura Levy of Rush county. Four children were born to them, Mrs. Bertley Bell of Kokomo being a daughter. His fourth wife was Elizabeth, the widow of George M. Leasure. Her maiden name was Cross, her father was Joseph Cross. No children were born of this union. Surviving children are; Mrs. Ola (Bertley) Bell, James Matlock and Harry Matlock, all of Kokomo.
