Born in Springfield, Missouri on March 8, 1931, to Lida Bessie and Omie Calvin Giboney. He had one sister (LaVerne) and one brother (Warren). As a child, his family moved to California where his father worked for the railroad.

He married Sherrill in November 1961 in Marysville, California, and in November 1962, their daughter Jarilyn was born.

Jerry retired from the California Board of Equalization in 1993. He and Sherrill moved from Sacramento to Garden Valley where Jarilyn and her husband Richard Jones live. Soon, he was surrounded by numerous friends and an extended family.

Jerry is survived by his wife Sherrill, daughter Jarilyn and her husband Richard, nieces, nephews, and all who knew and loved him.

Jerry was a member of the New Hope Community Church. He loved his community and worked for ten years at the Garden Valley Firehouse Breakfast and for the Christmas Food Basket.

He will be missed by all who knew him and is remembered as a gentle, loving soul - witty, always smiling and waiting with a hug.
