J.M. Pappy SURRATT, was in the War of 1812 Pvt. in Western Tennessee Militia Volunteers; Colonel William METCALFE's Division, 1st Regiment of Volunteer Mounted Riflemen, Colonel Wear's Co., Cavalry & Mounted Gunmen.
He is the 2nd Son of Samuel,3 SARRATT & Mother: Nancy JOHNSTON. He was born on his father farm called the "South Hyco Plantation, 6mil. N. Roxboro, Person Co., NC. (Then in the then part of Hillsborough District, Caswell Co.)
J.M. Pappy SURRATT, had 4 or 5 Wives, and 14 or 16 Children.
