WEST YORK, Ill. — Everett T. York, 79, of West York, died Friday, April 10, 2009, at Danville Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care Hospital in Danville. He was born July 6, 1929, in rural Oblong, to Franklin Dennis York and Viola Watts Bonham York.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Japan. He was a cement finisher, a member of West Union Church of the Nazarene, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Marshall, Ill. Everett married Edith Mae Bridgewater on Sept. 13, 1951, and she survives.
He also is survived by six sons and their spouses, Mark and Judy York of Flora, Tom and Cathy York of Melrose, Eddie York of Topeka, Kans., Virgil York of Vallejo, Calif., Randy and Cecelia York of rural Marshall, and Eric and Missy York of West York; two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Don Molinet of Marshall, and Myra and Gary Otey of Robinson; his stepson, Michael M. Dix of Valdez, Alaska; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and nine brothers.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. CDT at Prust-Hosch Funeral Home, in West Union, with a graveside service to follow at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the Danville Veterans Hospital. Pastor Penny Brown is in charge of the service. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside.
Prust-Hosch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the West Union Church of the Nazarene, with envelopes at the funeral home.
