Healdton — Carol Dean (Oltermann) Dawson was born September 11, 1930, in Oklahoma City to John Harms and Myrtle Elizabeth (Heckman) Oltermann and passed away November 18, 2010, in Midwest City, Oklahoma. She married William "Bill" Burrell Dawson on October 23, 1948.



Carol was a high school math and computer science teacher in McLish, Pauls Valley and Healdton for 33 years and touched thousands of lives as a teacher. She was very active in Healdton First Baptist Church for many years as a Sunday School teacher, member of the choir, and Woman's Missionary Union. She was also a member of the Healdton Music Club, Retired Educators Association, and Delta Kappa Gamma.



Mrs. Dawson was preceded in death by her husband Bill Dawson; her parents, John and Myrtle Oltermann; and a brother, James Oltermann.



She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, James and Desa Dawson of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Dennis and Cindy Dawson of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Alan and Kelly Dawson of Harrison, Arkansas; one daughter and son-in-law, Joni (Dawson) Terrill and Tracy Terrill of Austin, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Justin Dawson and wife Stacey, Hailey Dawson King and husband Forrest, Micah Dawson, Sarah Dawson, Jessica Dawson, Kaitlyn Dawson, Rayna Dawson, Taylor Dawson, Alex Dawson, Christopher Terrill, Joseph Terrill, and Kayla Terrill; four great-grandchildren, Logan, Mackenzie, and Kamdyn Dawson, and Amelia King; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon and R.V. Brady of Stonewall, Oklahoma, and Jan and Joe Weller of Grand Prairie, Texas; and one sister-in-law, Emma Lee Oltermann of Amarillo, Texas.



Services for Mrs. Dawson will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at First Baptist Church, 107 S. 4th Street, Healdton, Oklahoma, with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery in Ada, Oklahoma, at 3:00 p.m. that afternoon. Visitation will be held Sunday and Monday at BarnesFriederich Funeral Home.
