Johny Joseph Thone, age 86, of Dardanelle died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, at River Valley Medical Center. He was born August 1, 1924 at Jacksonville, Fla., to Henry John and Clyde Pope Thone. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, World War II Navy Veteran and a member of Boyce-Woods Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3141. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wanda Thone; brothers, Henry Thone and Leslie Thone; stepbrother, Milton Miller; and stepsister, Evelyn Bernard. Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-laws, Mary Lue and Doug Frank of Little Rock, Wanda Jean and Jerry Cross of Dardanelle, Johnny Fay and Robert Pesterfield of Ozark, and Kathy and Dennis Mullen of Russellville; one brother, James Thone of Bakersfield, Calif; sister, Mary Hunt of Sacramento, Calif.; stepbrother Joe Miller of Dardanelle; stepsister, Jackie Weeks of Lady Lake, Fla.; grandchildren, Jason Merritt, John Cross, Melissa Cross, John Pesterfield, Jeff and Bobby Mullen, and Ashley Bermingham; six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and three special cousins, Carl and Gary Pope, and Louise Minemyer. Funeral Services were at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at Cornwell Funeral Chapel. Burial at Brearley Cemetery with military honors by Boyce Woods VFW Post 3141. Family wishes to give a special tahnk you to the Dardanelle Nursing Center Staff and to Candi Day for the special care and help they have provided. Pallbearers include John Cross, Jason Merritt, Jeff Mullen, Bobby Mullen, Corey Thone and Adam Thone. Honorary pallbearers were members of Boyce-Woods VFW Post 3141.
