J.D. Baker, 84, of Hubbard, passed away Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, in Temple. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, at Wade Funeral Chapel in Hubbard with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

J.D. was born in Hubbard, Texas, to the late Othor Randolph and Johnnie Mae (Allcorn) Baker. He was a lifelong resident of Hubbard and worked in maintenance for Hubbard ISD for many years. J.D. married Polly Baker on April 7, 1948. He also served in the Hubbard Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Hubbard VFW Post # 9849.

He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 60 years, in 2008.

Survivors include sister, Christine Uptmore, of Weatherford; brother, Stancel Bryan Baker, of Corsicana; and numerous other relatives including many nieces, nephews, cousins and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
