Floyd E. Booton, 75-year-old Vinita businessman, died Saturday afternoon in a local hospital.

He was born Jan. 7, 1903, in Welch, I. T. (Indian Territory). He formerly worked with the Welch State Bank, moving to Vinita in 1940. Booton began working in the insurance business with the late Herb Schroers. He later purchased the business, now known as the Floyd Booton Insurance Agency.

He was an active member of the Vinita Lions Club, serving as secretary for over 26 years. Booton was a deacon and member of the First Christian Church. He was also a member of the Vinita Masonic Lodge No. 5 and Tulsa Consistory.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary E. Booton, of the home, one sister, Mrs. Viola Maxwell, Oklahoma City; and one brother Paul Booton, Oklahoma City.

Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the First Christian Church with the Rev. Clarence E. Newby, pastor, officiating.

Honorary casket bearers will be members of the Vinita Lions Club and Masonic Lodge. Friends are giving to the memorial fund of the First Christian Church. Booton will lie in state at Luginbuel Funeral Service until 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.
