Services for Ellis Douthit, 73, were held in the First Presbyterian Church officiated by the pastor, Dr. T.S. Knox. Mr. Douthit moved to Abilene in 1928 from Fort Worth. He became a member of the law firm now known as Wagstaff, Harrell, Douthit, and Alvis. Mr. Douthit moved to Sweetwater with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Douthit, as a child. He graduated from the University of Texas law school and was admitted to the bar before he was 21. He was director of First National Bank in Big Spring where he lived for several years, and was a former district attorney of the old 23rd district court. Mr. Douthit taught the Men's Bible class and was senior deacon of the First Presbyterian Church for many years. He was a member of the Lions Club in Abilene and the country clubs.
