was a Uniontown banker who made his fortune buying and selling coal lands. After his first wife died, Thompson married Hunny Hawes, a poor girl from Smithfield who made it big in New York, in 1903 and built an ornate mansion for her at the western edge of Uniontown that they called Oak Hill. He also built the 11-story First National Bank Building in downtown Uniontown. Thompson's marriage broke up in 1913, costing him a $1 million settlement. He died bankrupt in 1933. His estate was sold to the Sisters of St. Basil, who renamed it Mount St. Macrina.

His second wife was Blanche A. Gardner,died Aug. 19, 1919 and his third wife was Rose Maloney in Dec. 14,1929 in New Cumberland, WV.
