STAUNTON-David Junkin Ott Sr., 86, died yesterday at his home on Route 6, Staunton, after a long illness. A native of Augusta County, he was born Dec. 19, 1878, a son of the late Ennis and Virginia McCormick Ott.
Mr. Ott was a member of the Hebron Presbyterian Church. Before moving to the Hebron Community, he was a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church, where he served for many years as an elder.
Surviving are three sons, D. J. Ott Jr. of Moorefield W. Va., Robert F. Ott of Kalamazoo, Mich. and James M. Ott of Staunton; three daughters, Mrs. George (Anna) Galusha of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Carl (Elizabeth) Brooks of Nashville, Tenn. and Miss Edna Ott, at home; also 14 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, four nieces and two nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow in the Hebron Presbyterian Church, conducted by his pastor, the Rev. Raymond F. Kepler, and the Rev. R. G. Hutcheson, D. D., pastor of Bethany Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the New Providence Church Cemetery near Brownsburg.
Active pallbearers will be Cooper Lotts, H. H. McCurdy, Andrew Wilson, E. M. Hewitt Sr., Marshall Shiflet, and Robert P. Wright.
Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Lucas, O. S. Sandy, Hub Brown, S. Mack Lott Jr., Miley Arehart, L. S. Crosby, Frank Reed, William Dundas, James C. Crosby, Calvin Wood, Warren Cook, Lewis Earhart, G. B. Lunsford, Alexander Kirtley, and members of the Men's Bible Class of Hebron Presbyterian Church.
The body will remain at the Fred Henry Funeral Home until 1:30 p.m. tomorrow, then will be placed in the church. Friends will be received at the home on Route 6.
