Canton - Carl Willis Greene, 94, of 27 Rivercrest Court, died Saturday, April 9, 2005, at Canton Christian Convalescence Center.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was a son of the late Robert Taylor and Dorsey Fisher Greene. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Greene; three sisters, Ullah Rogers, Hazel Johnson and Artie Yarborough; and a brother, Boyce Greene.
He was the former owner and operator of Greene Motor Sales for 30 years. He also was a former county commissioner of Haywood County and was a charter member of Crestview Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Alene Treadway Greene; a daughter, Carlene Crisp of Oregon House, Calif.; two sisters, Opal Mann of Asheville and Blanche Reed of Canton; two brothers, Raymond Greene of White Pine, Tenn., and Luther Greene of Canton; three grandchildren, Jonathan Crisp, M.D., of Concord, Carla Trantham of Asheville and Robin Black of Canton; and five great-grandchildren, Issac, Benjamin and Jennifer Crisp and Kristen and Jarred Black.
The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with the Revs. Jerry Ensley and Wayne Sorrells officiating. Burial will follow in Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
