Prominent Dentist Passes at Age of 38 Years--No Funeral Arrangements Made.

Dr. D. Stanhope Caldwell, who had been sick for the past year, died this morning at 1:30 o'clock at his home, 1413 Elizabeth avenue, where he had been confined to bed for the past three months. His age was 38 years.
No arrangements had been made for the funeral this morning, pending word from several relatives away from the city.
Dr. Caldwell had been in declining health for more than a year, having undergone an operation about a year ago. He has been confined to his bed about three months and his condition has been serious for the past several weeks.
A native of Cabarrus county, near Concord, Dr. Caldwell came to Charlotte immediately after completing his dental course and opened offices here. More recently he had been practicing his profession in the firm of Caldwell & Smitherson.
Dr. Caldwell was married to Miss Nell Surratt, daughter of L.L. Surratt, of this city, some 13 years ago. In addition to Mrs. Caldwell, he is survived by four young children, three sons, Daniel, Robert and Richard, and one daughter, Lewellyn Caldwell, and other brothers.
Dr. Caldwell was a prominent and popular citizen of the city. He was a valued member of the Charlotte Rotary club.
